Account Deletion

We're sorry to see you go. Below you'll find information about deleting your PatriotsConnect account.

Important: Account Deletion is Permanent

Once you delete your account, this action cannot be undone. All your data, posts, messages, and connections will be permanently removed.

What Gets Deleted?

When you delete your account, the following will be permanently removed:

  • Your profile information (username, bio, profile picture)
  • All posts, photos, and videos you've shared
  • All comments you've made
  • Your direct messages and conversations
  • Your followers and following list
  • Your verification documents and status
  • Your likes, bookmarks, and saved content

What Doesn't Get Deleted?

Some information may be retained for legal or technical reasons:

  • Information required for legal compliance (retained for up to 7 years)
  • Backup copies (automatically deleted within 90 days)
  • Anonymized analytics data (without personal identifiers)
  • Content that other users have shared or saved (like screenshots)

Before You Delete

Consider These Alternatives:

  • Deactivate temporarily: Hide your account without deleting it
  • Update privacy settings: Control who can see your content and message you
  • Take a break: Log out and return when you're ready
  • Download your data: Request a copy of your information before deleting

How to Delete Your Account

Method 1: Through the App (Recommended)

  1. Open the PatriotsConnect app on your device
  2. Go to Profile → Settings
  3. Scroll down to Account Management
  4. Tap "Delete Account"
  5. Review the information about what will be deleted
  6. Enter your password to confirm
  7. Tap "Permanently Delete Account"

Method 2: Request Deletion via Email

If you can't access your account, you can request deletion by email:

Send an email to: support@patriotsconnect.com.ng

Include the following information:

  • Your registered email address
  • Your username
  • Phone number (if provided during registration)
  • Subject line: "Account Deletion Request"
  • Clear statement that you want to delete your account

Deletion Timeline

Immediate (Day 0)

Your account is deactivated and hidden from other users

Grace Period (30 Days)

You can cancel deletion and restore your account within 30 days

Permanent Deletion (After 30 Days)

Your account and all data are permanently deleted from our systems

Backup Removal (90 Days)

All backup copies are automatically deleted

Cancel Account Deletion

Changed your mind? You have 30 days to cancel the deletion and restore your account:

  • Simply log in to the app with your credentials
  • Your account will be automatically restored
  • All your data will be recovered

After 30 days, this option is no longer available and deletion becomes permanent.

Download Your Data

Before deleting your account, you can download a copy of your data:

  1. Go to Settings → Privacy → Download My Data
  2. Select the data you want to download
  3. We'll prepare your data archive (may take up to 48 hours)
  4. You'll receive an email when your download is ready
  5. Download link is valid for 7 days
